Canine carnival comes to the area

Wake County’s Crowder District Park invites citizens and their pets to the 2009 Canine Carnival, Saturday, October 31, 2009, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Crowder District Park, 4709 Ten-Ten Road, Apex. The event is free and open to the public.

Attendees can enjoy educational exhibits and interactive activities for people and dogs, including the Kids Kennel area with an obstacle course and tail-wagging fun games. There will be a fast-paced flyball exhibition, agility and obedience demonstrations, and a leash training workshop. Pet owners are invited to dress their dogs in their Halloween best and enter in the K-9 Costume Contest.

Several rescue organizations will have dogs available for on-the-spot adoptions. Wake County Animal Care, Control, and Adoption Center will provide $5 rabies vaccinations and $10 microchip services.

Food and refreshments will be available for purchase.
