Apex welcomes the holiday season by transforming Salem St. into a walking mall of twinkling lights, greenery, and shopkeepers beckoning you inside for hot cider, cookies and chances to win prizes in Scrooge's Scavenger Hunt.

Be a part of the chorus of “oohs” and “aahs” with the lighting of the Apex Christmas Tree in front of the old depot on Friday, Dec. 4 at 5:30 p.m. Santa Claus arrives soon after the tree is lit. Horse-drawn carriage and sleigh rides will be available from 6-9 p.m.

The Apex Rotary Club Pancake Breakfast is Saturday, Dec. 5 from 7-11 a.m. at the fire station. You can also have your picture taken with Santa from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All day Saturday the Scavenger Hunt will continue at downtown businesses packed with Christmas presents for the whole family in mind. To highlight Saturday's activities be sure and get your favorite spot for the annual Apex Rotary Christmas parade that begins at 5 p.m.

The Apex Historical Society will hold its Holiday Home Tour on Sunday, Dec. 6 from 1-5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Apex Chamber of Commerce, The Rusty Bucket, Pineapple Tea Room and Antiques on Salem, all downtown.

See next week’s edition of The Apex Herald for details on the home tour.

Christmas on Salem Street is sponsored by the Apex Downtown Business Association.
