The lacrosse IQ and talent in Wake County is ripe. This area is producing the next group of talent that you will see heading to some of the best colleges and universities as they progress through high school.

While the talent in some of the Northeastern states is some of the best around, Wake County is delivering a great wave of players all of whom joined forces this summer on the Cougar Select 2016 National Lacrosse Team and they are now getting ready to compete in the fall season together. The skill of this team of rising ninth graders is amazing.

The Cougar Select Lacrosse Program in Apex has quickly become the dominate and most sought after travel lacrosse program in the area. Fielding teams from U9 all the way through U15 and high school teams, the tradition of winning has been established.

The Cougar Select program has grown exponentially the last three years while also keeping the program very family oriented.

This summer the Cougar Select 2016 National Lacrosse Team pulled the top talent from rising ninth graders across Wake County, and put a formidable team together going 13-1-1 on the summer.

The majority of the team were all local middle school all-stars, all of whom need to be watched as they start high school this fall.

This summer the team won two championships in grand style under the superb coaching of Bryce Sneed whom was the 2012 Wingate University Player of the year.

The team won the Charlotte Summer Lacrosse Classic in Charlotte with a record of 5-0 and the Catawba Classic in Catawba, SC, with a perfect 6-0 mark. The team also went 2-1-1 at the Philly Summer Slam that included teams from all over the nation.

The Cougar Select 2016 National Lacrosse Team is now getting ready for their fall tournaments which will have all the players primed and ready to go at their respective high schools for the Spring 2013 season. Several of the players are already doing off-season workots with their respective high school teams.

The depth and talent of this team was deep at all positions. Here are the rising freshmen (Class of 2016) that should be watched as they play for Apex, Middle Creek, Green Hope, Cardinal Gibbons and other local schools:

Tommy DeLuca, defense; Noah Clinton, attack; Ryan Campbell, attack; Nolan Paussa, attack; Luke DuCharme, midfield; Mark Schachte, midfield; Jake Curtis, midfield; Braden Saba, midfield; Grey Spector, midfield; Tucker Burkinshaw, midfield; Matthew Morrison, defense/LSM; Andrew Greenspan, defense/LSM; Cameron Grove, midfield; Alex Stock, defense; Oliver Ta, midfield; Brandon Wacaser, attack; Harrison Wynne, attack; Emilio Ochoa, defense; Adrian Gorman, midfield; Will McClain, attack; Noah Gleich, defense; William Bender, goal; Hudson Ressler, defense.
