Mark Edward Finch of Apex passed away peacefully in the wee hours of the morning April 17, 2011. Mark was a gentle giant that touched the lives of many. He was a husband, father and friend that many strive to be. There will never be another like him.

Mark leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 26 years, Vicki; the lights of his life son, Mark of Apex, and fiancee Kristen; daughter, Tori of the home and fiance’ Will; mother Mildred Finch of Burgaw, NC; brothers, Howard Finch, Jr. of Currie, NC; Mike Finch (Robin) of Burgaw, NC; Bill Finch (Judy) of Bullock, NC; and a sister, June Zglinski (Craig). He also leaves mother and father-in-law Smitty and Sue Gray of Willow Spring; Kim Lumley (Darrell) of Wendell; Heidi Gilchrist of Lillington; Tiffany Kidd (Dana) of Willow Spring and Smitty Gray, II (Wendy) of Clayton and many nieces and nephews that adored their Uncle Mark.

He was predeceased by his father Howard Finch, Sr.

Mark enjoyed hunting, fishing and just being outside.

The family would like to thank Cancer Center of NC and staff for your love and care; and especially Dr. David White, Katie and staff at Duke Thoracic Surgery for your love, support and friendship during this journey.

Flowers are accepted at the home or contributions to Hospice of Wake County.

A memorial celebration of Mark’s life was held Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Westwood Baptist Church, 200 Westhigh Street, Cary. Visitation immediately followed the service. Mark requested dress casual attire.
