Middle Creek used a strong fourth quarter to upend Apex 46-44 on Friday night in a Tri-9 Conference basketball game.
The Cougars entered the final stanza holding a 41-34 lead. But the visitors outscored Apex 12-3 in the final eight minutes to post the victory.
Emily Sasser scored a game-high 19 points for Apex while Mia Castagnero added 12 points.
Betsy Dohrer led the victors with a dozen points.
The victory improved Middle Creek to 10-6 overall and 5-3 in the conference while Apex fell to 9-6 and 4-4.
The Cougars host Lee County on Friday night.
