The Peak City Film Festival - Family Style had its day with the leaders of the Town of Apex this week during a presentation before the Mayor and Council Members. Apex, known as the “Peak City,” serves as host to the film festival. Executive Producer John M. Demers took the time to lay out all the details of the Festival to ensure everyone was well informed about all the plans and introduce the idea of just what an international film festival can do for the community.
“This presentation is something we have wanted to do from the start,” said John M. Demers, Executive Producer of the event. “The members of the council are responsible for the governance of the town, and they should be as well informed as possible about all major events. We think we were very well received.”
The producers emphasized the Film Festival will provide a wonderful location for the viewing and judging of films from yesteryear and the new-media of today. All the film content will have entertainment value able to be viewed comfortably by anyone of any age. This concept was accepted wholeheartedly by the town council, and embraced by the citizens of Apex in attendance.
“We have come a long way since starting this project,” said Bob Crowley, Producer of the Peak City Film Festival. “We finally reached a point where we had something concrete to show the town council, and we are ready to continue the process leading up the big event in November.”
The presentation ended with the first public appearance of Crew the Raccoon, mascot of the Peak City Film Festival. As Mr. Demers told the council, “Every good producer knows you need an outstanding crew! And so, may I present our Crew for the Peak City Film Festival.” Crew came into the council chamber to greet the town council and shake hands with Mayor Keith Weatherly. After a bow to the audience, Crew departed the room through the applause of all in attendance. Crew took time after meeting the Mayor and Council Members to mingle with a half a dozen children who showed up at the meeting to learn about the Film Festival.
Festival management is now seeking sponsors to support the Film Festival further. Volunteers are also needed to help with all the tasks necessary to make it happen from coordinating transportation for attendees, to assisting producers not from the area, to taking tickets at the screening venues. Those interested in participating should contact the Film Festival to offer their services. For further information, please contact Bob Crowley at as shown above.
