Alex Ke, a fifth grade student in Mrs. Sardiello’s class, will represent Olive Chapel Elementary, at the Wake County Spelling Bee to be held on Saturday, March 3, at the McKimmon Center at North Carolina State University. Alex competed with classroom spelling bee winners from all second through fifth grade classes at Olive Chapel to win the title of 2012 Olive Chapel Elementary School Spelling Bee Winner. Runners up were Jai Saravanan, Renee Byrnes, and Henry Goff.

The Second and Third Grade Parent/Student Book Club will meet on Thursday, March 8, at 6:30 PM, in the media center. The book, The Adventures of Captain Underpants, by Dav Pilkey, will be discussed.

The Kindergarten and First Grade Parent/Student Book Club will meet on Thursday, February 15, at 6:30 PM, in the media center.

Friday, March 16, will be a spirit day at Olive Chapel and all students and staff are encouraged to wear their spirit wear or school colors of blue and white.

The fifth grade will sponsor a McDonald’s Night on Monday, March 19, from 5-8 PM, at the McDonald’s on the corner of Highway 64 and Lake Pine Drive.

Olive Chapel Elementary will sponsor a fund raising night at Chick-fil-A, on Thursday, March 22, from 5-8 PM.

Report Cards will go home with students on Tracks 2, 3 and 4, on Friday, March 23.

Friday, March 23, will be an Early Release Day and students will be dismissed at 1:15 PM, to allow the staff to attend professional development.

Registration hours for 2012-2013 will be from 9:30-11:00 AM and 1:00-3:00 PM every Monday through Friday. Registration packets may be picked up any time during school office hours, Monday - Friday, 8:00-4:00 PM.
