A Spotlight on Student breakfast was held on Tuesday, Dec. 7. Ms. Dianne Lawler, our Seventh Grade Guidance Counselor, was the Spotlight Coordinator. Each team recognized and nominated a student for this honor because of his/her outstanding personal achievement. A delicious breakfast was provided by the PTA for these students and their parents.

The nominated students were: David Cook, Damodar Kamat, Nelsy Lopez Navarro, Jaylen Nobles, Shelby Poliachik, Ashley Sears, Cierra Webb, Lane Williams and Connor Young.

Lane Williams is the student who will be representing Apex Middle School at the WCPSS Board Meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011. Congratulations to all these students for their achievements and accomplishments.

The following students were honored at Apex Middle School for the Character Trait of Courage: Zachary Brothers, Nicholas Ciaccia, Luke Colwell, Cherilyn Corbin, Sarah Duncan, Tiffany Finley, Jami-Mae Floyd, Anthony Gavazzi, Moriah Grant, Ching-Hsien Ho, Boyce Hudson, Korrie Kerley, Emma Lechner, Stephen Mooney, Matthew Pak, Kirk Peterson, Angello Polo-Espinoza, Jennifer Rankin, Katherine Walker and Margaret Zielinski.

Dr. Camille Hedrick, Principal of Apex Middle School, congratulated these recipients and presented each with an exemplary character pin. Apex Middle School is very proud of all these students.

Olive Chapel Elementary School

Wednesday, Dec. 22 will be the first day of the Winter Holidays for students and staff. Tracks 1, 2 and 3 will return on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011.

Wednesday, Jan. 5, will be Walk to School Wednesday. Friday, Jan. 7, will be spirit day and students and staff are encouraged to wear their spirit wear or the school colors of blue and white.

Just clip Labels for Education UPC codes off of Campbell's products and the manufacturer will donate money to the school when you send them in to Olive Chapel. You can also link you rewards cards to Olive Chapel for even more benefits. Congratulations to PRE's students Hannah Wilson, Silvia Chabaneix and Skyler Wesendunk for their 2010 State Fair honorary mentions for their North Carolina Lighthouse depictions created in 4 different modern art styles.

PRE Canned Food Drive a Great Success!

PRE's Character Education Committee is pleased to report PRE students and families donated 2,280 pounds of canned and packaged food during its annual canned food drive, Nov. 15-18, to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
