Artwork, raffles, food and carnival games were all part of the festivities Saturday evening during Olive Chapel Elementary School’s annual Artapalooza.
Yet, one event at the festival stood out from everything else.
A brief check presentation ceremony was held in honor of a $10,000 donation made by Prime Mortgage Lending owner John Rodgers.
Although the Apex business owner was out of town attending a hockey tournament with his daughter, his wife, Catherine, participated in the event.
Rodgers donated the money as a way to help the school upgrade its educational technology.
“As a father and business owner, I understand the importance of public education and the need for current technology in the classroom,” said Rodgers in a written statement. “Today’s students are tomorrow’s workforce and I am eager to see how this donation makes a difference for the students, staff and parents of Olive Chapel Elementary School.”
Apex Mayor Pro Tem Gene Schulze and Interim Wake County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Stephen Gainey both praised Rodgers’ generosity during the ceremony.
