Local runner reflects on Boston Marathon experience
Holly Springs resident Brian Egler has completed 12 previous Boston Marathons. Last Monday’s race, his 13th, he was unable to finish. Egler was running as part of the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge team to raise money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston and was a half mile from the finish line when the explosions went off near the finish line on Boylston Street. The Peak City Exchange Club of Apex held its first “Believe in the Blue Day” event on April 20 as part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The club members set up a tent at the Apex Farmer’s Market on Salem Street. The club had put blue bows on the lamp posts early in April after receiving a proclamation for “Child Abuse Prevention Month” from the Apex Town Council in March.
