Annual booksale and Festival of Reading is set for May
The booksale and Festival of Reading hosted by Wake County Public Libraries will be held May 9 through 12 in the Jim Graham Building at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. The annual event will feature more than 400,000 books for sale and 18,000 plus visitors are expected over the course of the four day sale. Olive Chapel Elementary School teacher Rachael Stauffer is among the 12 finalists vying for the 2013 Wake County Teacher of the Year. The winner will be announced tonight at a banquet at the Embassy Suites in Cary. Schools selected a Teacher of the Year in November. Support Military Spouses has a lofty goal of someday distributing more than a million shoebox gifts to U.S. military spouses around the world. The Apex-based organization still has a long way to go but they are getting closer all the time. More than 30 volunteers last week helped assemble 3,000 shoebox gifts that will be distributed to military spouses at Ft. Bragg, Camp Lejuene and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
