The new 2011-2012 president is Taki Donovan. Other officers include: John Sperath, President-elect; Randy Weaver, Secretary; Mark Wilson, Treasurer; and Jeff Darden, Sergeant at Arms. Also serving in positions are Andy Lipson, Club Service Chair; Randy Bosse, Club Communications Officer; Graham Wilson, Public Relations Chair; John Rodgers, Program Chair; and Bob Collier, Webmaster and CCO.
Outgoing president Terry Winebrenner presented the diamond “President’s Pin” to Donovan at the meeting. He thanked the club for an incredible year of service that included forming a new Interact Club at Apex High School, participating in the Adopt-A-Highway program and assisting with the Apex Christmas Parade.
At the Club’s Annual Banquet held on Saturday, June 25 club member Michael Sink was named the club’s first “Rotarian of the Year.” Sink was recognized for his initiative and efforts in starting the new Interact Club. Among the high school group’s efforts was to organize a “Jam for Japan” concert in May to raise money for the Tsunami victim in Japan.
The Apex Sunrise Rotary Club meets weekly, every Tuesday morning at 7:15 a.m. at the TGI Friday’s located at 1140 Beaver Creek Commons Drive, Apex. It was charted on March 18, 2010 as Apex’s newest Rotary Club.
