The already bustling Salem Street in historic downtown Apex will become even livelier on Saturday, May 5, as the Town of Apex holds its 32nd annual PeakFest. This popular arts and crafts festival is complete with some of the regions top live bands, a car show and more. PeakFest is the town’s largest annual event.

Due to the increasing popularity of this festival, combined with a thriving downtown, Apex’s PeakFest is expected to top last year’s attendance of over 15,000 people.

The purpose of PeakFest is for families and people in our community and surrounding towns of all ages to be brought together for a day of fun, food and fellowship. The dynamic arts, crafts and music festival runs from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The festival has deep roots in the community. What started as a small community day in a school parking lot has grown into an important area festival event. PeakFest has become a magnet for area families, drawing thousands of people to Apex’s quaint downtown.

Each year, the Apex Festival Commission spends a great deal of time planning this important day for the town. This year the Apex Festival Commission promises an even greater experience than last year.

According to Keith Weatherly, Mayor, Town of Apex, “Our town looks forward to PeakFest every year. This event continues to be a positive and memorable experience that will stay in the minds of families for a lifetime. PeakFest is great for downtown businesses, sponsors and vendors too, just further proof that Apex is truly what we’ve been saying all along: The Peak of Good Living.”

Vendors are charged a fee to participate and businesses become sponsors, helping to offset the expenses of the day. Any remaining funding goes back to the community in the form of grants. Last year, $15,000 in grants were awarded and the money went back to community groups in need of funding.

To learn more visit the festival website at www.apexPeakFest.com and go to the applications tab and select grants.

There are a variety of sponsorship opportunities for for-profit and not-for-profit area businesses. This year’s premiere sponsor is Wake Med. Since sponsorship spots go quickly, any area business interested in sponsorship should register soon by visiting www.ApexPeakFest.com and clicking on the applications tab.

PeakFest was created to bring residents from the suburban neighborhoods into downtown Apex. Today, we still strive to bring awareness to our blossoming downtown, which is the envy of many of our neighboring towns. Salem Street has a variety of shops, restaurants and services that make it a great place to go to for an afternoon or evening of good food and great finds.
