Apex fifth-grader Sydney McCoy has returned from the Olympic Games in London. McCoy earned the trip to the Olympics thanks to her selection as a finalist in McDonald’s Happy Meal Chefs contest.

While in London, McCoy participated in McDonald’s Global Champions of Play program, where she joined kids from around the world to celebrate balanced eating and fun play.

McCoy attended swimming and volleyball events while at the Games. She also got to go behind the scenes at Lord’s Sports Ground where the archery events took place. She met the U.S. Olympic team and even got to hold their silver medal.

The team’s coaching staff gave McCoy some archery lessons and allowed her to shoot at a target.

McCoy also got to hold the torch that was used to light the Olympic flame at the opening ceremony.
