Local historian Ernest Dollar will speak about the history of the Civil War in the Triangle as part of an Apex Historical Society program.
Dollar will present “Twilight of War: The End of the Civil War in the Triangle” on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Halle Cultural Arts Center in downtown Apex. The event is free.
Follow the dramatic events of the Civil War’s final days in central North Carolina. Dollar will reveal how soldiers and civilians grappled with victory, defeat, ruin and reunion during April of 1865.
Dollar began working in historic sites in 1993 after completing his B.A. in history and B.F.A. in design from U.N.C. Greensboro.
In addition to working as a graphic designer for IBM and webmaster for SAS Institute, Dollar has worked in several historic parks in both North and South Carolina.
In 2006, he completed his M.A. in public history from N.C. State and currently serves as the Director of the City of Raleigh Museum.
