Support Military Spouses celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of community service by inviting volunteers to participate in its Caring Cards for Military Spouses program.
Members of the community are asked to create a handwritten card, or to write a letter for a military spouse thanking them for their sacrifice on the homefront.

“We recognize and applaud the undaunted courage of military wives and husbands as they shoulder the responsibility of family life, care for wounded warriors, and honor the memory of our nation’s fallen heroes,” said Dr. Steven and Diane Rumley, co-founders of Apex-based Support Military Spouses.
“We hope others will join us by sending a caring note of encouragement that will be included in the Shoebox Gifts we will deliver to military spouses in May.”

Send your handwritten card or letter of encouragement to: Support Military Spouses, P.O. Box 395, Apex, North Carolina 27502. Every letter and card received will be placed inside a Shoebox Gift for a military spouse.

Spouses who have received the handrwitten cards in the past were thankful for the gesture.
“The note brought tears to my eyes, I appreciate the heartfelt words that were spoken,” said Anna Gay. “Thank you so much.”

“I found all kinds of neat goodies and a very nice letter written to thank me and my family,” said Heather. “It was a ‘Thank you for your service’ letter, and the box was especially made for me, the spouse.”

Support Military Spouses is home of Shoeboxes for Military Spouses, the nation’s only program dedicated to assembling, collecting, and distributing Shoebox Gifts for Military Spouses.
