Girl Scout Cookies are back for 2013 and if your favorite Girl Scout hasn’t knocked on your door yet, cookie booths will be up all around Johnston and Wake Counties beginning this weekend, Feb. 2. Just in time for your Super Bowl party.
Cookies have remained $3.50 per box this year and all revenue generated by the program is retained by the local troops or is designated for program opportunities that directly support Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines girls and adult volunteers in their 41-county area.
If you would like to support Girls Scouts but don’t need the extra calories, you could donate to Operation Cookie Drop. Donations are used to purchase Girl Scout cookies for our brave military troops serving overseas.
In 2012, customers donated enough funds to send nearly 100,000 boxes of cookies through the program. Since the program started in 2005, more than half a million (512,000) boxes of cookies have been shipped to our military troops.
All the favorite cookies, including Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Patties and Caramel deLites are available again this year and a newcomer has entered the field. Mango Crèmes are a crunchy vanilla and coconut cookie with a mango-flavored crème filling have all the nutrient benefits of eating cranberries, pomegranates, oranges, grapes, and strawberries.
Girl Scouts will be visible this weekend at several major retailers and grocery stores, as well as home improvement stores. If you would like cookies and cannot find a booth, contact the offices of Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines at 919-782-3021 and they will put you in touch with a Girl Scout in your area.
