James Freeman Harris, 75, of Cary, died Monday, July 06, 2009 at Rex Hospital. Freeman was born in Wake County on September 28, 1933 to Earley E. Harris and Ella Mae Seagroves Harris.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, July 8, 2008 at Faith Baptist Church, US 64, Apex conducted by Reverend Lalon Barnes. Burial followed in Raleigh Memorial Park.

Freeman is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia Blake Harris; children: Teresa Stern and husband Bill of Apex; James Harris, Jr. and wife Jeanne of Burnsville, NC, and Rufus Harris and wife Kathye of Apex; granddaughters: Elizabeth Stern, Brittany and Taylor Harris; and sisters: Shirley Beasley and husband Harry of Apex and Barbara Tart of Garner.
