The Peak City Film Festival - Family Style has issued its Call-for-Entries to producers of new-media productions around the world.
The first copies of the documents, including the general rules and entry form, were sent by email to producers yesterday, and the festival details are expected to be visible to all on the Internet at Withoutabox.com this week. Entries are expected from independent producers worldwide.
“This is one of the most exciting moments in the life of a film festival,” said John M. Demers, executive producer of the event. “All the advance planning has come together, the call is out, and now we see the response. Indications are it will be a big one.”
The producers continue to emphasize the festival will provide a forum for the display and judging of new-media with a high entertainment value able to be viewed comfortably by anyone of any age.
“This is a day I’ve been awaiting for months,” said Bob Crowley, producer of the event and senior vice-president of Convey Ink, a local marketing company. “Everyone knows the public event will happen in November, but for me, it has been happening already. It’s great to see all the work come together at last.”
The Call-for-Entries is the first publicly visible action of the festival. Entries are due to arrive no later than October 1, 2009, and then the judging period begins.
The top-rated juried productions will then be announced at a press conference to be held in Apex in the fall.
During this time, the Festival management will be seeking volunteers to help with all the tasks necessary to make the event happen from coordinating transportation for attendees, to handling celebrity needs, to taking tickets at the screening venues.
Those interested in participating should contact the festival to offer their services.
Sponsorship opportunities are also open to companies wishing to support the event and the local community.
The Peak City Film Festival - Family Style will have a number of supporting events happening in Apex throughout the summer, including contests to design a logo, design the awards themselves, and perhaps pick a mascot. These events will be announced soon.
