According to officials with the Wake County Sheriff's Department, shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2009, their office received a call of a deceased person at 3804 Perney Court, Apex, NC.

Wake County Public Information Office Phyllis Stephens said deputies are treating the death as a homicide and have charged Jolene Kay Hardy,55, with murder in the death of her husband Gerald Douglas Hardy,60.

Preliminary finding from the Medical Examiner is that blunt force trauma was the cause of death.

The investigation is continuing. At this time, sherriff officials have not released any further information about the case.
