A 67-year-old Apex woman has died after being shot while in her driveway early Wednesday morning.

Paula Jean Anderson, 1209 Boxwood Lane, was shot in the back just before 5 a.m. and later died at WakeMed.

A man walking his dog discovered Anderson about 30 minutes after the shooting and called police. A handgun was recovered from the scene.

Apex police said a man who knew Anderson has been taken into custody. No other information was made available.
