Children’s Dental Health Seminar Ages birth-2. Moms or Dads, feel free to bring your baby or toddler to this FREE instructional seminar. Learn the ideal age to begin your baby’s dental care, dental concerns, and what you can do to keep your child cavity-free. Shannon Leahy, DDS, instructs. Jumpbunch for Preschoolers Ages 3-4. A hands-on, age-appropriate introduction to sports in a fun, safe, noncompetitive environment. Builds hand/eye coordination, self-esteem and instills healthy habits. Please drop your child off for this class. JumpBunch instructs. Limited to 12 participants. Queen For A Day Spa Fun Ages 7-10. We will learn how to create spa treatments out of all natural and edible ingredients and make tasty spa treats to enjoy! We’ll also have a little pampering by having our hands soaked and fingernails polished while listening to soft and relaxing music. *$5 supply fee due to instructor at class. Wendy Stephens instructs. Kidzart Connect Ages 4-6. Our young students take their drawing skills to a new personal level. Through individual guidance and encouragement, they learn how to use the language of art to express their thoughts and ideas more clearly. We explore a variety of drawing mediums with new projects every session. *$10 supply fee due to instructor at the first class. KidzArt instructs. Limited to 12 participants. Kidzart Imagine Ages 7-11. Our students are introduced to a tool box of artist’s tools and drawing mediums. They will begin to express their ideas freely and to overcome the impulse to judge. Learning to draw with confidence is a great skill for school, teaches creative problem solving and is fun! New projects every session. *$20 supply fee due to instructor at the first class. Safekids Ages 4-9. Parent/child participation. Law enforcement has come a long way towards learning new ways of keeping our kids safe. Learn the checkpoints for parents and kids through the technique of role playing by a trained police officer. Apex Police Department instructs. Limited to 30 participants. Free. 3-D Self-Defense System Workshops for Women Ages 13+. Focus of each workshop will be on self-defense issues pertaining to women’s safety. Learn the techniques to protect yourself and receive individual attention based on your current level. Upon completing Basic-Advanced training, move to the Advanced-Level 1 & 2 training and be introduced to more advanced self-defense techniques, which will include improvement of overall physical conditioning. Students will receive a certificate of completion for each level and a t-shirt for completing all levels of advanced training. Please register at least one week in advance. SELF-DEFENSE FOR SENIORS Ages 55+. Focus will be on self-defense pertaining to Seniors safety. Learn the information and techniques to protect yourself. Please register at least one week in advance. SHARING YOUR LIFE STORY: A MEMOIR CLASS - NEW! Ages 55+. We all have a life story inside of us, but many times we feel that what we've experienced is not relevant or important. In this class, you'll learn how you can harness the power of your stories for future generations and that what you've learned over a lifetime is a treasure that must be shared! Writing exercises and instructor feedback will help you generate memorable prose and learn new techniques. All levels are welcome. Alice Osborn instructs. Limited to 20 participants. OPEN GYM The basketball courts at the Apex Community Center are available for use and membership cards are available for purchase by Apex residents only; residing within the corporate town limits. Membership charges for 10 visits are: Child (0-7): No Charge, Youth/Teens (8-17): $5, Adults (18-54): $10, Seniors (55+): No Charge. Resident parent/guardian must complete and sign the open gym registration form for children through age 17 to obtain open gym passes and participate. Non-Apex residents: One-day guest passes can be purchased with an Apex Resident for $5. Please pick up monthly calendars at Apex Community Center, or online at www.apexnc.org.
