Lufkin Road Middle School Lufkin is proud ot announce that Jennie Jones has been named the 2009 Middle School Teacher of the Year by the Physical Education Association (PEA) of NCAAHPERD. This award is reflective of her outstanding qualities as a professional physical educator. Ms. Jones will receive her award and be honored at the annual NCAAHPERD Convention in November.

Olive Chapel Elementary School Open House for Tracks 3 and 4, will be held on Tuesday, August 18. Classroom visits will take place from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. and a brief PTA General Meeting will be held from 6:45 to 7:00. Classroom presentations will be repeated from 7:00 to 7:30. Childcare will not be provided. Fall pictures for students on Tracks 3 and 4 and makeup pictures for Track 1, will be taken on Thursday, August 20. Friday, August 21, will be Hat Day sponsored by the Olive Chapel Student Council. All students and staff are encouraged to wear a hat to school to show their school spirit. The Olive Chapel PTA Board will meet on Thursday, August 20, at 1:00 p.m., in the conference room. Olive Chapel Elementary will sponsor a Blood Drive on Thursday, August 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For an appointment, call Annie at 387-4440. Penny Road Elementary School The Penny Road PTA is hosting a "Back to School" kickoff from 3:00-6:30 on Sunday, Aug 23. Families are invited to visit the Parent Information Fair in the Media Center from 3:00-3:45. Meet the Teacher from 4:00-5:00 in the classrooms. From 5:00-6:30, stay to socialize and eat dinner (pre-ordered or brought from home). For the kids, there will be a DJ, bounce houses, and t-shirt raffle.
