Mortie M. Thomas, 93, of Durham, died Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Durham Regional Hospital. Mrs. Thomas was born on March 22, 1916 to John and Sudie (Sessoms) Sykes in Bladen County, NC. She is survived by nieces Barbara Parker of Rocky Mount and Ruby McLamb of Rocky Mount; special friends Bonnie Hall of Durham, Thomas and Faye Wray of Apex, Gerald and Diane Dutton of Durham; and 3 grandchildren. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband John Franklin Thomas, and son Robert “Bobby” Dixon, Jr.
