Cambridge Village of Apex responds to the needs of active seniors

Ground Breaking Ceremonies for Cambridge Village of Apex were held yesterday under blue skies and sunshine. Apex Mayor Keith Weatherly, along with developer Kendall Oliver and Robert Stephenson turned the ceremonial shovels and kicked off the construction of the $55 million dollar independent retirement community set on 14 ½ acres of land near the new Walmart in Apex. Expected to be completed in the Fall of 2010, phase one of the project will include 90 apartments and a 28,000 sq ft community center, complete with a wellness center, indoor pool and in community theatre. Upon completion of phase 2 & 3, the community will have 284 apartments. Dennis Redmond, the CCO for Oliver Development spoke to an audience of 70 invited guest and the Apex Rotary Club about the uniqueness of Cambridge Village. “Today, active seniors are looking for a community that can offer a variety of activities. This includes activities that are socially, physically, and mentally engaging. Cambridge Village is one of the 1st Independent Retirement Communities in the area to offer a Holistic Wellness Program. From the indoor swimming pool to the continuing education program offered through area universities, Cambridge Village is focused on both physical and mental fitness. Combine our wellness amenities and programs with the social atmosphere enhanced by our 5 Star dining and lounge facilities, theater, and well appointed apartments and you have a complete offering. Add to that, a month to month rental format with no buy in fees, that includes utilities, meals, housekeeping and a 24/7 emergency call system, and you have an affordable package for the active, independent retiree.”

Guest speaker, Mayor Weatherly noted “Cambridge Village will be a valued addition to the community, showing increasing interest by retirees to locate in Apex.
