Ground Breaking Ceremonies for Cambridge Village of Apex were held yesterday under blue skies and sunshine. Apex Mayor Keith Weatherly, along with developer Kendall Oliver and Robert Stephenson turned the ceremonial shovels and kicked off the construction of the $55 million dollar independent retirement community set on 14 ½ acres of land near the new Walmart in Apex. Expected to be completed in the Fall of 2010, phase one of the project will include 90 apartments and a 28,000 sq ft community center, complete with a wellness center, indoor pool and in community theatre. Upon completion of phase 2 & 3, the community will have 284 apartments. Dennis Redmond, the CCO for Oliver Development spoke to an audience of 70 invited guest and the Apex Rotary Club about the uniqueness of Cambridge Village. “Today, active seniors are looking for a community that can offer a variety of activities.
