While incumbents in Apex and Garner were able to keep their positions, Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina will see new faces on the town council after two incumbents were defeated.

Here is a summary of tonight's election results from across Wake County:

Town of Apex Commissioners (three seats needing to be filled)

Top three vote capturing candidates were

Lance Olive 23.30 %

Mike Jones (I)15.71 %

Gene Schulze (I) 15.56 %

Town of Fuquay-Varina Mayor

All precints reporting

Incumbent John Byrnes won with 68.90 % of the votes

Town of Fuquay-Varina Commissioners (vote for 2)

All precints reporting

Cindy Sheldon (I) 36.45%

Jim Abernethy 33.42%

Incumbent Bill Harris was defeated in his bid for re-election to the Fuquay-Varina Town Council and only received 23.71% of the votes

Town of Garner (Vote for two)

All precints reporting

Top two vote capturing candidates were

Kathy Behringer (I) 30.02%

Gra Singleton (I) 28.00%

Town of Holly Springs Mayor

Mayor Dick Sears was named the winner. He captured 73.76% votes

Town Council Holly Springs (Vote for three)

All precints reporting

Top three vote capturing candidates were

Linda Hunt Williams 22.79%

James (Jimmy) Cobb 16.81%

Chet VanFossen (I) 15.19%

Incumbent Vincent DeBendetto was defeated after receiving only 14.75% of the votes

Hooray for Mayor Dick Sears. Logic and smarts prevailed over the smear campaign. AND VD is gone? FINALLY.
