The Apex High School wrestling team recently held it's 4th annual Cougar Classic. Many local teams participated including Apex, Holly Springs, Panther Creek, Cardinal Gibbons and Broughton.

Holly Springs, Panther Creek and Cardinal Gibbons, all dual state qualifying teams, continued to show their strength as they finished as the top three teams in the event. However, Apex showed some improvement over last year as they went 2-3 and stayed with all three of the upper teams during most of their duals.

Both Broughton and Southern Durham were short many of their starters for various reasons, but gained a great deal of experience for many of their younger wrestlers.

The event gave an opportunity for both varsity and junior varsity wrestlers to compete, with one gym showcasing the varsity teams while the other gym gave new wrestlers a chance to match up and get some great experience.
