Artist Roxanna “Rocky” Alexander opens at The Nature of Art in January. Meet the Fuquay-Varina artist at a free reception on Friday, Jan. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. during the Art After Dark art walk.
Alexander is also a lover of gardens, old farms and her koi. She dug her own ponds to breed many colors and types of koi but doesn’t pretend to know their Japanese names, preferring names like “Frank”, “Yellow Dragon” and “Mont Blanc”. “Having the fish is truly an inspiration for paintings” she says, and she has done many.
Alexander has been an artist and instructor in watercolors and oils since the 1980s. On Jan. 11 she is offering a class on water soluble oil painting at The Nature of Art. The cost is $50 and includes most materials.
Alexander is a juried member of Artspace in Raleigh, a signature member of the Watercolor Society of NC, and past president and founding member of the Fine Arts League of Cary. She has won many awards with her watercolors and has been juried into several national and international shows.
The Nature of Art is located in Sunset Lake Commons, 5229 Sunset Lake Road in Holly Springs. For details contact Judie at (919) 387-9448 or visit www.TheNatureOfArtFrameShop.com
