Charity Golf Tourney With more than 163 million orphans around the world, Bethany Christian Services, the nation’s largest adoption agency, is dedicated to finding loving homes for children. To that end, the non-profit organization’s branch in Raleigh is hosting its fifth annual Bethany Open – a local golf event raising money to assist with infant and older child adoption services, counseling for women facing unplanned pregnancies, and support for couples struggling with infertility – on Monday, October 11 at beautiful Devil’s Ridge Golf Club in Holly Springs. Corporate and individual teams are welcome at the Bethany Open. Great prizes will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place teams, as well as to the longest drive, closest-to-the-pin, and closest-to-the-line. Entry is $75 per person, which includes a round of golf, free use of driving range, golf cart, goodie bag, continental breakfast and catered lunch. Pastors and associate pastors play for free. ‘Day in Downtown’ Fuquay-Varina The Fuquay-Varina Chamber of Commerce’s 8th annual Day in Downtown street festival will again feature a number of family-oriented contests for all ages. The event will be held Saturday, October 30 on Main Street in Historic Downtown Fuquay. There will be three contests held this year that will be open to the public. They are costume contest, pumpking carving contest, pumpkin pie contest, and Search the Quay. For more information, call the Chamber at 552-4947.
