Havana, July 1 (EFE) .- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Colonel on Thursday congratulated the ruling Communist Party of China (CBC) on the centenary of its founding and highlighted the achievements of that political organization.

“Cuba shares this celebration with feelings of friendship, respect and respect for a political system that has led to growth rates that will impress the Chinese people,” Thias-Colonel wrote on Twitter.

In another message on the social network, the president expressed the desire to “continue to multiply victories in socialist development.”

The President released pictures of previous meetings between officials of the two countries.

The CCP was founded on July 1, 1921 and has been the only ruling party in the country since the declaration of the People’s Republic of China on October 1, 1949.

Cuba was the first Latin American country to establish diplomatic relations with China in 1960, and is currently one of the main political allies of the Caribbean island and its second trading partner.

The Asian nation has traditionally supported Cuba in international fora such as the United Nations, which has called for the lifting of the US embargo.

Beijing is involved in a number of bilateral projects with Cuba, including technology development, biotechnology and cooperation in education. EFE
